This letter will be a bit of a longer one then usual. We have a lot to go over and a lot to think about. At the bottom of the letter I go over the March camp-out. I need feedback on this topic so please let me know what you think.
Monday meeting 2 - 15
Get ready for something different. Last year on President's Day we went to the field museum and had a special field meeting. This year with keeping up the tradition of doing something different we are going to hold a sports night. For a while the boys have been wanting to blow off some steam and play some games so this meeting we will be over at the Pottawatomie Community Center Gym. The address is: 8 North Ave, St. Charles, IL 60174
This will be an extended meeting from 6p to 8p. This is a class B event so please make sure to wear any gym clothes or exercise clothes you want to.
Bring any basketballs or tennis balls you have. If I am not mistaken Dennis and Nick from pack 260 will be coming over for a visit.

Geneva Day Hike Saturday 2 - 20, 10a - 2p
We will be taking a hike downtown Geneva while practicing map and compass skills. A few weeks ago we did a tutorial of how the compass works in downtown Saint Charles. Let's put the practice to use and navigate an orientation course for 1st class. The compass course will cover about one mile in walking distance and will take you to some of the better known places around town.
This past weekend was the 2020 Winterall at camp big timber. This was the 1st year that Winterall was a district wide event. Around 250 scouts came to take part in the activities. Troop one was in charge of the Flipping For Fun station. The goal for any cub scouts group that visited our station was to create a pancake put it on a paper plate and tosses it as far as you could. Some of the cub scouts that took part in this event made it past the 10 yard mark. One pancake hit 1 of our helpers that was on the range resulting in double points for the cub scout that tossed it. Thank you to Riley and Carson who came out for a few hours in the morning and afternoon. A most gracious shout out to Noah and Cameron for helping out the whole day.
Monday meeting 2 - 3
This Monday we will be having a bifurcated meeting. The first half of our meeting will be planning for the cascade mountain trip and discussing a potential museum trip. The second half will be a tutorial working on what is a scoutmaster conference and board review.
I would like to thank everyone that came out to our February day hike and compass course yesterday. We really did luck out on the weather. It was probably one of the only bright and sunny cloudless days we have seen for some time. I hope that as springtime gets closer we are able to do more like this around our area.
Monday meeting 2 - 22
For the first time in almost a year we are being allowed to use Saint Marks church as our meeting location. (101 S 6th Ave, St. Charles, IL 60174) We will be crafting care packages for Lazarus house. The troop will have cleaning supplies and food prep gloves on hand. If you could bring any plastic sandwich bags, brown paper bags, bottled water or apples it would be appreciated.

March campout alternative - repost
As everyone is probably aware our usual March two-night, (Friday & Saturday) camp out is at the lodge at camp Tomo Chi Chi Knolls in Gilbert's. Usually we are able to use the lodge for our spring camp-out to get back into the swing of things after a long winter. This year being different we may not be able to use the lodge because of Illinois' strict rules. There is however an alternative as of right now. BSA camp Indian Trails in Janesville WI is open and has the ability to host us. They have cabins and campsites available for our usage. If the lodge in Gilbert's is not accessible I would like to propose going to camp Indian Trails for our March camp-out.
First off I would like to welcome Noah Jorns, Cooper Kamin, Morgan Lobb, Joshua Mercado and Anthony San Marino are our five newest Troop One members. I hope that over the coming weeks and months they will be impressed with how we run our troop and stick around till they finally attain the rank of Eagle Scout.
If you've stepped outside over the past week you've probably noticed that the winters back may have been broken. At least we hope so! All of the sunshine and higher temperatures seem to be a hopeful sign that spring really has sprung. Now that I have said that, we will probably get another 16" of snow and the return of colder temperatures within the next week (positive thoughts for sun & warmth are appreciated). I just hope the groundhog knows what he's talking about this year and we are heading for a much balmier temperature.
I hope that everyone is staying dry and warm with this week's past snow. Normally this time of year is only suitable for people wearing a lot of layers or a person related to the Yeti.

Do you feel like climbing the walls? Are you frostier than a snowman on his best days? Do you think watching 70's reruns is entertaining like I do? You need something to do on the last saturday of the month.

Kansas City wins by 3 in overtime. How do I know? I'm prophetic.
After the strange weather we've been having this past winter we were afraid that we wouldn't be able to put this year's ski trip together. Thank God we did. The kids had a good time and no one came back with anything broken. Always a plus in my book.
Here's what's new this week.

Pack 110 invite
Pack 110 has four scouts that were looking to join us on one of our outings. They have not yet chosen a troop and are wanting to see what we are about and who we are as a troop. We have a few options that are within the next week. The 2024 Chicago auto show and a trip down to the city for a free day at one of the museums. Just two of the ideas floated. When told of our potential ideas the leaders and kids seemed rather interested.
The troop Zelle
Need to pay the troop for something or get paid for something? We have a Zelle for that. @TRP1TREASURER

Recruiting New Members
If you have a family member, a friend, an acquaintance, a Cub Scout, or someone wishing to join you as a transfer from another troop please let us know. We all know that the only way for the troop to survive is for more people to join over the long run. If you know of anyone that could potentially be interested in joining, please have them come to a meeting, outing, camp-out or just for a visit.
