S,M.S for 11 - 29 The great re-post edition

Posted by swolfgram on Nov 29 2020 - 9:15pm
Good evening everyone

Most of everything tonight is going to be a re-post from Friday's letter just in case you have not seen it yet.  All the info applies to this sms so I thought why change an already perfect thing.

A zoom link is at the bottom for Monday night and I will send out another at 5P tomorrow.  Just in case.

Regarding wreath payments
If you have collected your wreath payment and have it ready to be turned in please give Dave Kolodziej a call.  Please make sure to 1) make a copy of your order form and 2) account for all of the checks or money you have collected.   If any of your customers would like to pay with a check make sure the check is made out to Boy Scout Troop One with wreaths in the memo section. (It is also helpful to note on the order sheet for your records who paid either check or cash).

Monday meeting, 11 - 30, Cooking and Packing 411 - Zoom
This Monday we will be working on some cooking requirements.  It will be another special meeting starting at 6p ending around 8p. For this skill the boys must cook a hot breakfast or lunch . It can be any breakfast or any lunch but does require cooking.  (Sorry no microwaves)
We will also be talking about safe food handling and preparation.  On top of that we will be going over many of the requirements that we have not been able to hit on this season.  Monday will be a jam packed night for everyone.

Service project opportunity

On Saturday December 5th and Sunday December 6th we will be trying to hold a end of year service project instead of our regular urban hike.  As of now the idea is to do a trail cleaning over at Camp Kane (Langram park) in Saint Charles.   For both days the start time will be around 10a and go until about 2p.  If more work can be done and a great enough energy is had we will be able to work until night. This is all of course based on the weather.  We can easily earn a lot of service hours in this one location.   I hope we can make this happen.  Details are on the calendar.

S.M.S for 1 - 10

Posted by swolfgram on Jan 10 2021 - 8:02pm

Good evening everyone

I want to think everyone that helped out at Cubsicle yesterday and last weekend.  I believe we were one of the few troops that had any boys come to help out.  I will probably be corrected on that but all in all it was a good way to help out your fellow scouter.  Tomorrow will be our first Patrol Leaders Council and Committee Meeting of the New Year.   Whether you are a scout with a position of responsibility or not we want your input.  Whether you are a committee member / adult leader or just a parent volunteer we need your help and input.  Every good idea is another idea that we can work with to make something out of.

Monday meeting - P.L.C and C.M
We have a few scouts from pack 260 that have shown some interest in coming to our troop.  We need to come up with one or two good events to hopefully convince them to come over to us this year.  As a troop, we need to come up with a few things that we can do on a few winter weekends where we get out and about doing something.  The P.L.C starts at 6p

For Monday night's committee meeting we have an update on the sale of the smallest trailer.  Also, discussions on new fundraiser that the kids may be able to sink their teeth into and a program update.   The C.M starts at 7p

Tune in with your preferred mode of communication via our zoom channel.  Below is the link to the Zoom channel.  I will send it out again tomorrow afternoon just in case you forget.

S.M.S for 1 - 12

Posted by swolfgram on Jan 12 2020 - 9:35pm

Good evening everyone

I want to start tonight by thanking everyone that was able to attend the feed my starving children service event. Even though I was not able to attend I was told it went very smoothly. Thank you to everyone that could come and I know we will be able to do many more service events in the year to come.  With our new scouting season just started there are a lot of things to discuss at the first patrol leaders council and committee meetings of 2020.

Monday meeting 1 - 13
This Monday Is the beginning of our regularly scheduled Monday meetings for the 2020 season.  This is the 2nd Monday of the month which means we have our patrol leader council and committee meeting at St. Marks Church. Our P.L.C will begin at 6 o'clock and the C.M will start at 7 o'clock.  All scouts and parents are welcome to attend the P.L.C. All parents are welcome to attend the C.M. If you are intending on coming to both you can do that too.  The main topic for tomorrow's P.L.C will be the upcoming camp-outs and events that the troop will be doing in 2020.  We will also be going over the camp-out locations and prices in detail.

Just a reminder ....
There is no troop meeting tomorrow night only the P.L.C (6pm) and C.M (7pm)

Upcoming events

Some events in our near future you need to know about are...

2020 Electronic Camp-out, Jan 24 and 2020 Winter-all, Feb 1

Areas that need a boost

Because this is the beginning of a new season I have no problem coming hat-in-hand to all of our members and asking for help in specific areas. Attached below is the list of positions we have open and that the troop needs help with. As you can see my name is plastered all over the list and I am feeling very lonely.
