S.M.S for 11-6-22

Posted by swolfgram on Nov 6 2022 - 11:42pm
Good evening everyone

Thank you to everyone that came out to the 2022 VFW fire vigil.  I received a number of thank you's from the other troops and some of the vets in attendance yesterday night.  The boys put up a good show and it paid off in the end.  Something of note from this past weekend.  We had one of the windiest outings I can remember.  Just to the south of us we had a radar indicated ef-0 tornado on saturday afternoon.  luckily none of it came up by us.  we got some footage of the rain as it slammed into us, I just hope it turned out ok enough to show.

We have some upcoming things for you to sink your teeth into.  So let's get on with it.

Monday special meeting - troop elections and city council meeting
St.Charles city hall, 2 Main St, St. Charles, IL 60174

This Monday the 7th will be our Fall Elections and city council meeting.  At 6pm we will be holding the elections for troop positions at city hall in St.Charles.  Every position is up for grabs.  We will be reviewing the obligations of each position making sure all expectations are fulfilled.  At 7pm we will be sitting in on the S.T.C city council meeting and leading their flag ceremony.  The troop will also be receiving a proclamation on behalf of Karl Asplund the founder of troop one.

Good evening everyone

Thank you to everyone that came this weekend to the camp-out and this afternoon to the trunk or treat event.  If you want to know how I made such amazing weather for us it was simply my scoutmaster magic.  That and a bit of darn good luck. (ok a lot of luck, but I did roll a 20 sided die and got a critical success)

Good stuff coming up so here we go

S.M.S for 10-16-22

Posted by swolfgram on Oct 16 2022 - 8:45pm

Good evening everyone

We have a lot to do this coming week and a lot to talk about.  I want to start off by letting everyone know that in this year's Scarecrow Fest our troop placed 3rd.  Our entry in the MEGA! category was a depiction of the flag raising on Iwo Jima.  The video can be seen on our facebook page.  Thank you to all that helped design it, set it up and take it down.  Next year we will take 1st so start planning now!

Monday evening is not only our planning meeting for the Blackwell FP camp-out it is also the dinner with the vets service night.  Please go over to the website and sign up for both.  Everyone needs a service hour and a nice weekend camp-out wouldn't be too bad at this point either.

But first let's talk about...

Troop One Recharter
That time of year has come again when we have to put together our recharder for the next season.  As of right now I am hoping that all of our members will be rejoining us for the 2023 season.  Please contact Nicole and let her know your intention for 23.  If you have not told us you will be leaving and we re-register you YOU WILL BE ON THE HOOK FOR PAYMENT.

Monday Dinner with the Veterans
Oct 17th 6p - 7p, Veterans Center
311 n 2nd street
The veterans center is hosting their monthly dinner with the veterans meal. We have been invited to help serve and afterwards join in a meal with the vets. Ever since St. Marks Church ended their community supper evening we have been looking for something to take the spot it once held. This is the perfect way to earn a service hour and get to know the veterans a bit better. Immediately following the dinner we will move into our meeting.

Class A for this one, you don't have to wear the badge sash.

Monday meeting - Camp-out prep
Oct 17th, 7:10 - 8:15p, St.Mark's Church
Because of Dinner with the Veterans we will have an abbreviated camp-out planning meeting. It will start directly following the service project at about 7:10.

Troop Fundraising Opportunity
Popcorn, Wreaths and Jerky sticks are all on sale.  Please try and sell as much Popcorn and Wreaths as you can.  They are the way we fund the troop for a good portion of the year.
